(May 22, 2012 – 3 p.m. ) The Union Pacific railroad has scheduled a replacement of the Duff Avenue railroad crossing the week of June 4-9. The City of Ames will close Duff Avenue from south of the Main Street intersection to beyond N.E. Third Street during this time to facilitate the repairs.

The Main Street intersection with Duff Avenue will remain open. On the south side of the railroad tracks, the N.E. Third Street intersection with Duff Avenue will be closed.

The Union Pacific plans a full reconstruction of the entire railroad crossing including removing and replacing the detection loops for the railroad crossing gates. There will be no vehicle access across the railroad tracks during reconstruction project.

Those with questions or concerns about this project should contact Damion Pregitzer at (515) 239-5160.
