Heartland Senior Services
Heartland Senior Services welcomes Jan Williams as its new development director. Williams replaces Jan Tibbetts who retired this summer after serving Heartland for six years.
Williams’ path to Heartland has come through the Ames Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACVB) where she was visitor services manager and membership/ volunteer coordinator for nearly nine years. While there, she served as staff liaison for Iowa Special Olympics and Iowa Games as volunteer coordinator and also coordinated the volunteer component of the inaugural National Special Olympics.
She was also engaged in the membership recruitment and retention efforts of the organization. Following the ACVB, Williams worked for four years at ISU College of Engineering with alumni, corporate & donor relations which included development & special events. She provided professional donor-related support for up to five Iowa State University Foundation development officers within the College.

Williams has a degree in Psychology from Iowa State University. She has been involved in the community through the United Way of Story County (Women with Initiative & Marketing Councils), RSVP of Story County Advisory Council, YWCA (Women of Achievement Advisory Council), Iowa Special Olympics Summer Steering Committee and Ames Community Preschool Center Board. She’s a member of National Cyclone Club and ISU Alumni Association.
Elizabeth Beck, Heartland’s Interim Executive Director, invites the public to stop by Heartland Senior Services at 205 S. Walnut Ave. in Ames to meet Williams and become further acquainted with the HSS programs of Adult Day Care, Activities, Congregate & Home-delivered Meals, Outreach, and Transportation.
