Evans named outstanding administrator by Iowa band group

(April 16, 2012) The Iowa Bandmasters Association has selected Ames High Principal Spence Evans among its  Outstanding Administrators for 2012. Each year the IBA honors administrators who support their instrumental music programs by investing in time, budget resources, staff and and professional development to promote excellence in instrumental music education.

(April 9, 2012 – 5:30 p.m.) The board overseeing campaign ethics for Iowa political candidates and ballot initiatives later this month will discuss Ames School District facilities director Gerry Peters’ appearance in videos promoting passage of the $55 million dollar bond referendum.

Peters is not under any investigation by the Iowa Ethics and Campaign Disclosure Board, said the board’s executive director and attorney Megan Tooker. Nor is anyone else from the Ames Community School District administrative team.

Ames Community School District Special Election for $55 million bond to renovate two elementarty schools and build three new ones.

(APRIL 3, 2012 - 9 p.m.) The bond has passed. "Yes" votes were 2,987 and "No" were 1,312 votes. The bond needed 60 percent approval to pass. It passed with 69.48 percent.  Turn out was 11.5 percent.
