(March 8, 2010 – 6:30 a.m.) An Ames attorney plans to challenge state Sen. Herman Quirmbach for the Iowa Senate District 23 seat.

Tim Gartin confirmed Sunday that he has begun collecting signatures on nomination papers to run in the June Republican primary to be his party’s candidate for the seat in November. Candidates may begin filing their nomination petitions with Iowa’s auditors and county commissioners of elections today.
