(Nov. 9, 2011 - 2:15 p.m.) HSS Board of Directors has named Elizabeth Beck as the next executive director of Heartland Senior Services of Story County. Beck has been serving as Heartland’s Interim Director since July 2010.
HSS Board President John Klaus says, “This is both a challenging and exciting time for our agency. We are pleased that Elizabeth Beck has agreed to continue as executive director. We will benefit from her strong leadership, and her passion for the future of Heartland.”
The HSS executive director is responsible for the leadership and management of Heartland’s major services county-wide: Adult Day Care, Activities & Resources, Congregate & Home-delivered Meals, Outreach, and Transportation. Beck will report to and collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and manage an annual $2 million budget.
Beck has lived in the Ames community for nearly 40 years, serving as director of the Iowa State University Honors Program from 1977-2004. Upon retirement from Iowa State, Beck has been involved with nonprofit management, including several interim positions.
Klaus invites the public to stop in at 205 S. Walnut in Ames to visit with Beck and learn more about Heartland’s services and opportunities for seniors. “With committed leadership and community support, we have confidence that Heartland will continue to enhance the lives of Story County older adults, their families and caregivers far into the future.”
