Free Thanksgiving Dinner offered Thursday

(Nov. 21, 2011 ) First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), a spiritual community where all belong and are welcome is continuing tradition with their annual Community-wide Free Thanksgiving Day Dinner. This is the 24th year for the feast, which is free to anyone who would like to come from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the church, 611 Clark Avenue.

(Oct. 28, 2011) United Church of Christ-Congregational, the oldest congregation in Ames, gathered in 1865, will install its 22nd minister, The Reverend Jonathan C. Page, on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at 4 p.m.

(Oct. 18, 2011) Linda Carter-Lewis, former first lady of King of Kings Missionary Baptist Church in Des Moines and community activist, will be the keynote speaker for the 2011 So(ul) Refreshing Women’s Mini-Retreat on Saturday, Nov. 12.

The program, which includes breakfast and prizes, will be from 9  to 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 2400 Mortensen Parkway, Ames.
