Letter: New library plan feels more secure for kids

I would like to encourage the citizens of Ames to support the Ames Public Library bond referendum on November 8th by voting “Yes.”  We enjoy taking our grandchildren to the library. However, I’ve had moments of concern when I couldn’t see one of my grandchildren due to tight space and high shelves.

The new library plan feels much more secure for the many children who use the library (and their grandparents). The single entrance and placement of the checkout desk means that a child can’t easily leave the children’s area without being seen.

We are so fortunate to have a highly utilized library facility in Ames. It is time to update the building to meet the current needs of the community. Please vote “yes” on November 8th.
